His love for Portuguese cousine is emphasized in many of his cookbooks and cooking shows. After his first chef job at the Commanders Palace in New Orleans, he became the famous TV show chef through the Emeril Live and The Essence of Emeril cooking shows. He trained in various countries including France, and owns over 10 restaurants not including the most recent one, Sands Casino Resort in Bethlehem, PA. He has also written just as many cookbooks. He has been nominated for several awards both in cooking and for his cook books and his enthusiasm for cooking is infectious as seen on his TV shows.
